A single shipment touches four systems: our booking, the ocean carrier, the trucking company, the customs broker. Each one calls the same milestone something different — "gate in", "received at terminal", "CY arrival". Our control tower translates all of it into twelve plain-English events, so a handover in Singapore reads exactly like one in Rotterdam.
How we normalise six carriers
Every carrier feed — EDI, API or, for one legacy partner, a structured email — lands in a mapping table our analysts maintain by hand. "Loaded on board" in three languages becomes one event: Departed origin. The mapping is versioned and reviewed weekly, because carriers rename events without telling anyone and our shippers should never notice.
Exceptions before delays
The dashboard is quiet by design. You get pinged when something needs a decision: a customs hold, a missed transshipment, a consignee who hasn't collected. Everything else sits in the timeline for the weekly report. The result last quarter: 83% of exceptions were resolved before they touched the ETA — most of them by coordinators acting on alerts customers never had to read.
Try it on your next shipment
Every Axlepoint booking includes control-tower access for your whole team at no extra seat cost: live map, document vault and one-click POD export. Forwarders who sell tracking as an add-on are selling you your own data back. Ours comes with the freight.
